Our monthly Parish Eucharist at Pett is at 9:15am on the third Sunday of the month. You can expect a warm welcome and a friendly group of people to worship alongside.
At St Mary and St Peter, we love to organise services that are meaningful to those in our community. We have additional services and events at special times of the year including Christmas and Easter. Notices of our latest events and services can be found in the porch or in the local parish magazine.
Our church is open daily for personal prayer. You may wish to explore the church grounds, write a prayer, or spend some time in reflection.
You can contact us about booking a baptism, wedding or funeral and we would be delighted to help organise a Christian service at the church. Our Churchyard is open and we follow the Diocesan Churchyard Regulations issued in 2026 from the Diocese of Chichester. We have a ‘Guardians of Pett Churchyard’ group who meet to help keep our grounds tidy and accessible.
There has been a place of worship on this site in Pett since 1291, and the present building was built in 1864. We recognise the privilege it is to worship in this building and the PCC work hard to carry out a schedule of maintenance.

Our parish has chosen to prioritise inclusivity and welcome as part of how we share the love of God with our communities.
In Spring 2026 the Parish of Pett was added to the national ecumenical database of churches working towards greater diversity and inclusion in the Christian church. As part of our affiliation this is the Inclusive Church statement we have signed up to:
“We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.
We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.
We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
We do not claim to be perfect but we are striving to be more inclusive week by week, and it will be a key part of our planning going forward. Please know that if you decide to worship with us at Pett, you will be welcome and we will work with you to make sure you can access our services, fully participate in worship, and rest in the knowledge that you are celebrated for simply being yourself!
